Borne out of necessity in industrial properties where factories and manufacturing plants needed floors that could keep up with them, epoxy coatings have since progressed from the industrial into the commercial and residential. Where it was one perhaps rare to find a garage coated in epoxy, it has now become the norm for it to be the most suggested material for garages.
Epoxy is a two-part system made of resins and hardeners that are combined together in a process called polymerization. The precise measurements of each of the two components lead to a curing reaction that allows liquid epoxy to dry into a hard material.
There is a lot of differentiation between epoxy compositions on the market, which directly affects its quality. Tampa Epoxy uses only the best epoxy available for residential, commercial, and industrial needs. High-quality epoxies, when applied, do not fade, scratch, turn yellow, or flake and crumble off, unlike cheaper epoxies. That is why we believe the success of an installation always begins with the material itself.
Epoxy coatings are applied in layers, depending on how much strength is needed. Typically, for residential properties, epoxy is applied in only three to four layers.

Epoxy Coatings Installation Tampa
Our contractors use a careful and efficient process of applying the epoxy material to make sure they are long-lasting and durable.
Before any epoxy can be applied, the surface first need to be prepped for the application. This involves cleaning, filling in any cracks and pits, and making sure they do not contain any moisture, which could interfere with the binding process between the epoxy and the floor. Our prep process is lengthy for a reason. Ill preparations may cause problems once the epoxy is applied. Specifically, the epoxy may only bind to certain areas. This can be extremely problematic because epoxy is notoriously difficult to remove.
Once the area is sufficiently prepped, epoxy is applied in layers, leaving time in between layers to dry the material completely. It is at this time that the epoxy can be decorated and customized according to your wishes. We then finish off the application with a top sealer to make sure everything is bonded and protected. At Tampa Epoxy, we prefer to use a polyaspartic topcoat because it is UV-stable and extremely durable.
It is important to note that epoxy can only be applied during certain times of the year when the temperature is neither too low nor too hot. Temperatures can interfere with the way the material spreads and dries on the surface.
